5 revenue leaks every WooCommerce store has (and how to find them)

WooCommerce gives you full control of your store, which also means nobody warns you when money slips through. These are the five leaks we see in almost every WooCommerce audit, in the order they usually cost the most.

1. Orders stuck in pending or failed

A pending order is a customer who wanted to pay and did not finish. Failed orders are payments the gateway rejected. Most stores never follow up on either. Filter Orders by status and look at the last 30 days: the total is money a customer already chose to give you.

  • Send a simple reminder email with a payment link within 24 hours.
  • Check whether one payment method fails far more often than others.

2. Dead stock

Products with stock on hand and no sales in 90+ days tie up cash and storage. A small clearance discount usually moves them faster than waiting, and frees money for products that sell.

3. Draft products that have stock

Products saved as drafts are invisible to shoppers. When a draft has stock, it is inventory you paid for that nobody can buy. This often happens after an import or a seasonal edit that was never published.

4. Bestsellers that are out of stock

Your best product sold out is the most expensive leak per day. Every visitor who lands on it leaves. Set low-stock alerts on your top 10 products and reorder before zero, not after.

5. Coupons that expired unused

Hundreds of expired, never-used coupons mean campaigns that never reached customers, or codes that were too hard to use. Clean them up and look at which ones actually got used before creating the next batch.
